The Streak Continues

Biola takes down The Master’s in four to keep the win streak alive

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Volleyball continues their dominace as they took down The Master's 3-1. The Eagles surrendered only one set to the Mustangs at Chase Gymnasium on Friday night. The win improves BU to 4-2 on the season and extends their win streak to four games.

Vanessa Garcia continues to shine for the Eagles as she successfully set up her hitters 26 times in the contest. Marissa Price contributed with 10 assists as well while Sami Hover added six assists of her own.

Bekah Roth extends Biola's double-digit kill games to five straight, recording 10 kills on the night followed by Raegan Tjepkema and Dominique Kirton who each had eight.

On the defense, Abigail Copeland and Tjepkema each recorded three blocks at the net while Roth added two. Sami Hover continues to be solid for the Eagles in the back row. The senior added 18 digs in the match and now sits at 1,729 career digs with two regular season contests remaining.

BU got out to an early lead and took set one and two from The Master's 25-18 and 26-24. In the second set, ahead 23-17, Biola could not complete the sideout and surrendered seven points in-a-row to tie the game at 23. Fortunately for the Eagles, timely errors on the Mustangs allowed for BU to secure the set.

Set three was a back-and-forth game as both teams seemed to trade rallies throughout the set. The Master's would take the set from BU taking advantage of eight errors by the Eagles.

Biola started out the final set of the day with five straight points for the early advantage. The trio of Roth, Tjepkema and Kirton combined for 12 kills in the fourth set. Tjepkema also added two aces for the Eagles in the finale to secure the set 25-17 and take the match 3-1.

The Eagles are back in action on April 14 as they host Concordia at 6 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium.
