BU Outlasts PLNU

Biola takes down PLNU in five in back-and-forth sets, Hover surpasses 1,700 digs

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Biola Volleyball continues to impress by taking down Point Loma 3-2 for their third straight win. The Eagles and Sea Lions traded sets, but Biola was able to snag the final set to secure the victory.

After dropping set one 25-21, Biola was quick to respond by taking the second set 25-17. The Sea Lions snagged set three with a score of 25-22 before Biola was able to shut the door and take the next two sets 25-21 and 15-12.

Senior Sami Hover surpassed 1,700 digs in the contest with Point Loma. The libero recorded 24 digs in Golden Gymnasium for a total of 1,711 career digs as an Eagle. With three matches remaining all eyes are on Hover as she continues to chase a career high for Biola.

For the fourth straight match, the Eagles had multiple hitters record double-digit kills. Madison Beebe and Raegan Tjepkema recorded 11 kills a piece while Abigail Copeland added nine kills of her own.

Tjepkema had a great night at the net leading the Eagles in blocks with five while also performing well behind the service line. The sophomore middle blocker added four aces to her night alongside Brandee Markwith who also tallied four aces on the night.

Copeland chipped in with three blocks while senior setter Vanessa Garcia recorded two blocks of her own. Garcia continues to be the veteran leader that BU needs, leading the
Eagles in assists with 27 while sophomore Abby Brewster added 13 assists for BU.

The back row continues to be solid led by Hover. Brandee Markwith added 15 digs for BU while Garcia just missed double-digit digs recording nine on the night.
