BU Routs Regals

The Eagles were unbeatable on Saturday, notching a 7-0 win over CLU without giving up a set.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola men's tennis collected a 7-0 victory over the visiting Cal Lutheran Regals on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Eagles were perfect on the day, winning all nine matches in straight-sets.

"It was good to see that we won all three of the doubles matches," said Head Coach David Goodman. "We had some tough, close battles but we were able to pull through in the end and play aggressively."

The Eagles cruised to the first point of the match with 6-3 and 6-4 victories. Erik Martinez and Andres Meneses sealed the doubles point with their second win as a duo this season, as they boast a 2-0 overall record.

Isaac Cordova and Alex Sedeno were the third doubles match to wrap up and it went the distance in the set. With the match even at six games apiece, the BU duo battled to the finish to win the tiebreaker and the third and final doubles contest.

The match continued to favor the Eagles, as the competition transitioned into the singles contests. Meneses was the first to get on the board, notching a 6-2, 6-1 victory for his third-straight singles win.

The first four wins for Biola were dominant, not allowing their opponents to surpass three games in either set.

Cordova clinched the match triumph for BU, scoring the fourth point with his singles win. The freshman remained undefeated from the No. 2 spot, knocking out Corey Karen in straight-sets (6-3, 6-3).

The BU squad improved to 5-3 on the year with the victory and will now turn their sights to another home match against Western New Mexico on Tuesday.
