IRVINE, Calif. --- Jesse Elrod led the defensive effort in three BU victories last week, earning him a PacWest Defender of the Week award.

In the week, the team collected three victories by a combined margin of 117 points. BU was stout on defense, holding all three opponents to under 60 points. 

Elrod and his 6-9 frame protected the painted area for the six-win Biola Eagles. The forward logged multiple blocks in each game, tallying a total of seven on the week. His top performance came in the midweek bout against La Sierra with three blocks in a single game.

The rim protector's impact was also felt on the other end of the floor with back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts. In Saturday's win, Elrod notched a double-double, posting 20 points and 11 boards in 19 minutes of action. Through the three victories, he averaged 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.

The BU men's basketball team will begin conference play on Thursday, taking on Fresno Pacific at home with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
