HONOLULU, Hi. --- After two consecutive five-set losses, Biola (8-6, 4-2) snapped the streak with a three-set sweep (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) of Hawaii Pacific (2-13, 1-6) on Friday Night at the Shark Tank in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Four Eagles tallied seven or more kills on the night while Biola posted a .246 hitting percentage. Dani Bryant led the charge with 15 kills followed by Abby Brewster with 8. Dominique Kirton and Madison Beebe each logged seven kills for the Eagles.Â
"We played much sharper night," said Head Coach
Aaron Seltzer. "Abby and Marissa did a fantastic job setting tonight and we loved what we saw defensively from Sami."
Bryant, Copeland and Madison Beebe logged seven kills a piece while Tillery and Dominique Kirton each added six.Â
Sami Hover led the team with four service aces and added 32 digs to her night.Â
Biola elected to run a four-two offense against the Sharks, giving them a bit different of a look than opponents are used to seeing.
Abby Brewster and
Marissa Price combined for 42 assists in the three-set match, each recording 21 assists.Â
Biola was quick to get in the win column as the Eagles got on the board early with a 25-18 victory in the opening set. The Eagles held the Sharks under 20 points in both the first and thied sets.
Aaron Seltzer's team battled to close out the second set. Abby Brewster put an end to a long rally as she dumped the ball to catch the Sharks off-guard and put the Eagles up 2-0.
In the third set, a big block by Dani Bryant put the Eagles up 22-19 and Biola would go onto score three-straight points to close out the match.Â
The Eagles have one final game in Hawaii as they prepare to take on No. 24 Chaminade on Saturday at 8 p.m. PST.
