Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Ethan McGarvey, Assistant Sports Information Director

Returning Home

An early lead for BU did not hold up, as the team fell at home to Concordia.

LA MIRADA --- For the first time in nearly a month, the BU women's soccer squad (5-8-1, 3-4-0 PW)  took the pitch at Al Barbour Field. The Eagles started a four-game homestand with a 3-1 loss to Concordia (5-4-3, 4-1-1 PW) on Thursday night.

BU set the pace for the contest in the opening minutes on Thursday. Utilizing the energy of playing in front of the home crowd, the Eagles were aggressive around the ball, creating multiple opportunities early in the contest.

The first lead of the match belonged to Biola, thanks to a combination of Jazmin Montalvo and Mason Stansberry. On the play, a key pass opened up the field for Montalvo, who was faced with just one defender. The freshman then played the ball out wide to a streaking Stansberry. With just the goalie to beat, the forward buried her right-footed shot.

The score was the second of the season and the fourth in the career for Stansberry. Montalvo's assist was the first of the freshman's young career.

CUI jolted into action with the sudden deficit, firing a shot off the left post within 20 seconds of the kickoff following the goal. The visiting Eagles continued to keep the pressure on, notching the equalizer in the 19th minute off the foot of Olivia Ocampo.

In the 31st minute, Ocampo struck again with the game-winner for Concordia. In the opening half, CUI outshot Biola, 10-5, but went even in corner kicks, 1-1.

Another goal in the second half capped off the 3-1 final score in favor of CUI.

BU keepers totaled six saves on the day, including four from Anna Boyer and two from Briana Ruelas

On the offensive end, Halie Jamir, Abby Chavez and Sarah Freed led the way with two shots each.

BU will be back in action at home next Thursday against Holy Names at 4:00 pm.
