Rain Rain Go Away

On a wet Saturday afternoon, Biola fell in its first match in Hawaii, 1-0, to Chaminade.

HONOLULU, Hawaii — Biola women's soccer (4-6-1, 2-2-0 PW) opened up its three-match Hawaii trip with a contest at Chaminade (4-4-0, 2-2-0 PW) on Saturday. The second half brought rain and a CUH tally for a 1-0 BU loss.

Except for the goals, the stat sheet showed similar numbers from both squads. The two teams were 50-50 on possession of the ball for the match, while only differing by three shots with CUH logging 14 and BU launching 11.

Long range chances ruled the day for Biola, as the visitors were ambitious on offense. All three of the Eagles' shots on-goal came from the edge of the box or beyond the box, as they looked to strike from a distance. Jess Hase put one in towards the net, sending in a free kick from over 30 yards out early in the matchup.

BU keeper Anna Boyer did her best to thwart every Silverword attack and keep them off the scoreboard. The sophomore nabbed six saves for the fourth time this season, logging all 90 minutes in goal.

The game-winning tally for the host squad came in the 64th minute with a lob to the center of the box. As Boyer charged to grab the ball, Shayla Padilla got her foot on it just fast enough to push it into the net for the goal.

Biola will look to bounce back on Monday, as it takes on Hawaii Pacific at 7:30 pm PST.
