LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Men's Basketball appeared in the D2SIDA West Region poll and the NABC Coaches national preseason poll on Tuesday. It's the first time in the NCAA Era that the Eagles have appeared on the national poll and the third time they've been listed on D2SIDA's regional list. 

No. 11 Azusa Pacific, No. 16 Point Loma and RV Concordia were the other PacWest programs listed in the NABC preseason release. 

As for the regional ranking, Biola was included among a total of five PacWest programs. Azusa Pacific and Point Loma collected all of the poll's first-place votes between themselves and were ranked No. 1 and No. 3 respectively. The Chaminade Silverswords took the No. 8 spot while Concordia was listed alongside Biola in the receiving votes category.

The Eagles posted some pretty memorable wins in 2019-20 over their conference peers that were listed in Tuesday's poll. Holmquist's squad earned a thrilling quadruple overtime victory over Chaminade in early January and really found their groove at the conclusion of the season. The Eagles handled Concordia in back-to-back contests and snapped Azusa Pacific's 20-game win streak in the PacWest tournament semifinals at the Felix Event Center before pushing Point Loma to the brink in the championship round. 

Biola also returns the entire core that carried them to the magical run in February and March, including the three men who were named to the PacWest Championship All-Tournament team: Michael Bagatourian, Chris Rossow and Alex Wright. The coaching staff is also hoping for good things from incoming true freshmen Maximo Milovich and Malvin Payero. And they're eager to see Lucas Elliott get to work in the post this coming season after Elliott used a redshirt last year and focused on his development as a player.

The PacWest plans to start its first basketball games on January 18, so the Eagles will spend much of December and January preparing for a season in which they try to vindicate their performance from last March.
