LA MIRADA, Calif. --- With just about a month remaining until Biola Baseball has to report back to campus for the start of the fall semester, the Eagles are beginning to wrap-up their summerball stints and head home. But the impending end date hasn't shaken the summer players focus all that much since multiple members of Head Coach Jeff Calhoon's group are bringing home All-Star honors they received this month.

A group of eight men playing in three different states joined shortstop Connor Kostecka in All-Star status in July. Kostecka was an all-star for the Boulder Collegians in late June. 

Moving through the leagues in alphabetical order, Brandon Cody and Joey Leavitt both earned nomination to the Alaska Baseball League All-Star rosters for the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks. While Cody has finished his play this summer, Leavitt has particularly shined of late in Alaska. He leads the Chinooks with a 3.13 ERA this summer and has only walked one batter in 9.2 innings this month. Overall, the incoming senior has just three walks compared to 17 strikeouts in 23 innings. 

Jackson Collins and RobertAnthony Cruz also earned All-Star appearances in the Expedition League, representing their Casper Horseheads team out of Wyoming. Collins participated in the EL's homerun derby held at Corbett Field in Minot, North Dakota and blasted four homeruns in his first round with a wood bat. 

Collins ended the month of July with a .291 batting average and a .408 on-base percentage. He has 16 extra-base hits (six homeruns) this summer to go along with 25 RBI's and 22 walks in 35 games. Additionally, Collins posted a four-game hit streak from July 13 to July 22 during which he drove in four runs and collected five walks. 

It was only over the past two weeks that Cruz surpassed Collins for most homeruns this summer with seven. Cruz has built himself a great case for being the best middle infielder in the Expedition League in addition to earning all-star honors: he's one of three every-day hitters in the league with a batting average over .400 (.403), has driven in 43 runs in 37 games and has a total of 20 extra-base hits.

At the time of writing, Cruz is on an eight-game hitting streak that has pushed his OPS to 1.103. The All-PacWest second baseman had four-consecutive three-hit games from July 19 to July 23 while also driving in seven RBI's during that span. 

Back in California, incoming transfers Mark Stanford and Juan Luis Sanchez earned All-Star selections in the Sunset League and So Cal Collegiate Baseball League, respectively. Stanford hit .393 in 33 games with the OC Legends, collecting four homeruns, nine doubles and 25 RBI's and played his All-Star game at Biola. 

Sanchez finished third in the SCCBL in total strikeouts with 34 in 32.1 innings and finished with a 4-3 record. He was one of two reliable arms from Biola on the So Cal Stros' roster as Christian Beyer finished his summer with a 3.31 ERA in 16.1 innings pitched. During one stretch this summer, Beyer went six relief appearances without allowing a run for a total of 12 scoreless innings.
