TUCSON, Ariz. --- Biola Men's Basketball announced the addition of 6-foot-10-inch Arizona power forward, Lucas Elliott. Elliott joins Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist's team after four seasons at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in Tucson.
Elliott earned all-conference second team honors during his time leading the Lions and was also his varsity team's defensive player of the year. Elliott has always made defense his biggest priority, but he's begun to see the offense come around - scoring several triple-doubles his senior season.
The big man received several NCAA Division I offers, but he chose to continue his career and education at Biola.
"For one, I love the feel on the campus. Everyone I met, whether it be a student or coach or grounds worker had a passion for the school and the Lord," said Elliott. "God seemed to be integrated into everything Biola stands for, which is exactly what I want in a school. As for athletics, it was an easy decision. Biola was the clear choice, and after I committed I felt a peace come over my heart after praying about it for months."
Elliott is a solid student who's still mulling over what he will major in once he arrives at Biola. His high school GPA ended up at over 3.7 when he graduated this spring. After college, he hopes to continue his basketball career before ultimately landing a job that "gives me an opportunity to help others."
In addition to his time at PRCA, he played hoops for Powerhouse Hoops, which is one of 30 Under Armour Circuit teams from around the country. Outside of basketball, he volunteered in the school kitchen every day at lunch and he also volunteers at his church with greeting, childcare and community outreach.
