Concordia Wins The Rematch

Concordia wins the second meeting of the year with Biola Men’s Tennis by a score of 4-0.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. --- The success Biola Men's Tennis was able to muster on Thursday was not enough to hold off Concordia in the second meeting of the year between the teams.

Biola took 6-5 leads at No. 2 doubles and saw Andres Meneses and Derek James win their first sets in singles. But Concordia took early advantages on adjacent courts to take the dual match by a score of 4-0.

After Concordia established the early 1-0 lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, the Eagles responded back with some gritty play that showed they weren't going down without a fight. Edwyn Ramos and Quentin Lau both found some success holding serve. They were just unable to make up their opponent's breaks and lost in straights along with David Garcia.

Outside of Meneses' and James' first-set wins, Logan Blair buckled down to unearth his patented second-set momentum, got a big break against Concordia's No. 2 and won the second set 6-4. Neither Blair nor James were able to start a third set, as James match was stopped at 4-4 in the second. While Meneses was down 1-2 in the third to Thomas Kyle when the match was called.

The Eagles will return home to face Point Loma on Saturday before heading out to Santa Barbara to face Westmont on Thursday. Their match with the Sea Lions is set to begin at 12 noon at the Biola Tennis Center.
