Eagles Play NCAA DI Toreros

Biola Women’s Basketball took on University of San Diego in an exhibition at Jenny Craig Pavilion on Tuesday.


SAN DIEGO --- Biola Women's Basketball headed south to face University of San Diego in an exhibition at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. 

The Eagles kept the score within striking distance in the first half and entered halftime with a 10-point deficit before ultimately dropping the contest.

The Toreros went on a 7-0 run in the first quarter after Biola took the initial 2-0 lead. But the Eagles hung with their NCAA DI opponent and limited the Toreros to those seven points over the first eight minutes of the contest. Jelissa Puckett and San Diego-local Madi Chang hit two quick buckets in the paint to make it a 8-to-6 game in favor of the home team, and Stephanie Lee hit an early three-pointer in the second quarter to bring the Eagles within three points. 

But the Torerors were finally able to pull away when the second half got underway. Danita Estorga finished the game with a team-high 13 points and scored all 11 points for her team in the third quarter with three three-pointers and two free throws. Aysia Johnson was next in line with four points and five rebounds on the night. 

The Eagles will get back to countable basketball games on Saturday when they head to Fullerton to face Hope International. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
