Basketball Adds Four-Sport Standout

Zanen Zeller has been tearing it up in New Mexico. He'll join BU in 2019-20.

January 10, 2019

ROSWELL, N.M. --- Biola Men's Basketball adds a four-time all-district and all-state point guard from out of state in Zanen Zeller from Los Lunas High School.

Zeller was all-district each year of high school and graduated to all-area first team and all-state first team honors at the end of his career. He also helped his team, the Tigers, to the semifinals in each season.

He didn't just excel in basketball, but also played tennis, soccer and track on the varsity level. In track, he accomplished top-3 finishes in the triple jump and 4x200m relay at the state competition.

"I chose Biola because of the great coaching staff, location and Christian community," said Zeller. "I am excited to get the opportunity to grow as a person, student and athlete at a university that is the perfect fit for me."

Over the course of his time at Los Lunas, Zeller has led his team in assists, steals, rebounds and points - leading the team in all four categories last season. He was the District 5-5A MVP during his 11th-grade year and was also a nominee for Mr. Metro Player of the Year and New Mexico's Gatorade Player of the Year.

He's heavily involved in his local church and describes himself as a God-centered follower of Jesus.

Zeller will join Biola on the floor beginning in Fall 2019. He plans to major in biochemistry and minor in psychology with hopes of a career as a neurologist.

Catch him on the court when the home season begins next November.
