FRESNO, Calif. --- Biola's first-ever individual PacWest Conference champion highlighted the final day of competition at the 2018 PacWest Track & Field Championships as Gabriel Igbokwe took the crown in the men's triple jump.

The first-year Eagle, who came to Biola as a soccer recruit, landed a mark of 14.34m with his final attempt of the afternoon. That was an improvement of a third-a-meter over his previous best attempt of the meet and allowed him to surpass the second-place athlete from Concordia University Irvine. His final mark of 14.34m is almost a full meter better than his previous season-best of 13.69m.

Gabe Plendcio earned the Eagles' other all-conference honor for the day as he finished third in the 5,000m with a time of 14:53.70. Plendcio ends his sophomore season with two all-conference honors after also earning All-PacWest in cross country.

Ambernicole Hollinger earned some points for the women's team with a fifth-place finish in the women's hammer throw. The senior recorded a top toss of 43.12m, which was within four meters of second place. Hollinger also earned a point in the shot put (11.87m), finishing just behind teammate Emily Shaw, who had an 11.92m throw to place seventh.

Corry Williams scored four points for BU in the high jump, clearing 1.85m on his first attempt to finish fifth overall. The first place spot was secured with a successful jump of 1.95m from a competitor from Azusa Pacific. Williams' previous career-best in the HJ was 1.82m.

Nathaniel Belden set a new PR in the shot put with a heave of 11.92m. He finished seventh in the event to add to the Eagles' point total as well. Hannah Hubbard matched Belden with a seventh place finish of her own, this one coming in the women's triple jump. She recorded a 10.94m leap to earn two points for her team.

Belden and Williams' names continued to come up as point winners for the Eagles. They combined to win five points for BU in the men's 110m hurdles with times of :15.45 and :15.47, respectively. Belden led all Eagles by scoring 14 points throughout the meet. Next best was Igbokwe with 12 and Stephanie Croy with nine.

Ryan St. Pierre saw just how competitive the PacWest could be as he finished eighth in the 1,500m race. He secured a point for Biola with his time of 4:05.94, but was just two seconds back from a time that would have won the race.

The men's 800m was a strong event for the Eagles with Aditya Lal finishing fifth with a time hovering right around his all-time best, 1:54.52. Robbie Gleeson also scored for BU in the event, coming in eighth with a time of 1:57.04.

Paige LaBare had a disappointing finish in her bread-and-butter event, the 100m, but she bounced back with a sixth-place finish in the 200m. The sophomore recorded a :25.33, which is just three-hundredths of a second off her all-time best.

The Eagles had three women competing in the 5,000m finals, with Stephanie Croy, Mackenna Mason and Emily Ransom finishing eighth, ninth and 10th and all within 11 second of each other.

The Eagles finished seventh overall on the women's side (57 points) and sixth overall on the men's side (65 points) in their first-ever conference championship. The team's season is not over just yet as it will also send runners to Winona Lake, Indiana May 10-11 for the National Christian College Athletic Association Track & Field Championships.
