SISTERS, Ore. --- Because of the schedule and travel demands in the PacWest, depth at the forward position is a necessity and physical posts are always at a premium.

Biola thinks it able to check both those boxes with their newest addition at the five spot, Ty Horner from Sisters High School in Oregon.

"Ty is 6-foot-9-inches and physically strong," said Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist. "He plays hard and will have a big presence inside while also being able to hit the outside shot. He will fit very well with what we try to do."

Horner and the Sisters Outlaws just won the Sky-Em regular season title last week with a record of 16-8, 9-1 in conference. Horner helped the Outlaws to a win in their final regular season game with 14 points and is coming off first-team all-league and first-team all-tournament honors as a junior. He averaged a double-double in 2016-17.

The Eagles expect Horner to bring a strong work-ethic to La Mirada. Horner has worked hard to play all three ranges on the floor and to be a competent ball handler. In the classroom, he's committed to studying Chinese for four years in high school and hopes to use a psychology degree from Biola to help underprivileged children.

"I chose Biola because I felt very welcome on my visit and had an instant connection with the coaching staff and the players," said Horner. I loved the school environment and the campus itself. And I'm really looking forward to my time as an Eagle. I can't wait to get started!"

Horner will begin training with his new teammates when Biola's fall classes begin in September.
