NEWHALL, Calif. --- Even as its first season in the PacWest winds down, Biola Men's Basketball continues to bolster its efforts to become a perennial power in the conference.

The Eagles have signed a proven winner in shooting guard Whitten Dominguez from Hart High School. Dominguez just concluded a run to the second round of the CIF playoffs with the 28-11 Indians and won four league titles during his time at Hart.

Like senior point guard Blake Shannon Jr., Dominguez wore No. 10 at Hart HS and was depended on to drain his share of big shots and buzzer beaters this season.

The 6-foot-4-inch guard has already been named Foothill League Player of the Year and first-team All-CIF in 2017 and has the chance to add more accolades when All-Foothill awards are handed out in coming weeks. Dominguez has yet to declare a major, but he hopes his time at Biola will prepare him for a career in professional basketball.

"Whitten is a well-rounded player," said Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist. "He's tough and physical and hard-working. He can score, but he will also rebound well from his position and be a good defender."

In the classroom, Dominguez qualified for the National Honors Society and came into the current academic year with a GPA that was over 4.0. He even found time to intern with the sports medicine program at Hart HS.  

"I chose Biola because I love the campus, location, coaching staff and Christian environment," said Dominguez.

He will join his new teammates and start classes at Biola when the Fall semester begins in September.
