HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. --- Biola Cross Country and Track & Field announces the addition of Ryan St. Pierre to its 2017-18 rosters. St. Pierre is a Hall of Famer at his high school who has his eyes clearly set upon bringing glory to God and should be a perfect fit at Biola.
 
He ran four years of varsity cross country and track and field at Ocean View High School and was absolutely unstoppable for the Seahawks. His high school career is loaded with a long list of honors and accomplishments, which helped him land in the Hall of Fame, but perhaps most notable was his 2017 OCADA Golden West Male Athlete of the Year. This honor named him as the top male student-athlete in his league (across all sports).
 
"Ryan has a true servant's heart. He will be there for his teammates in any way he can and will sacrifice his own personal success for the betterment of a team if that's what is needed," said Head Coach Sean Henning. "Ryan embodies what I want in our program and will be a great leader during his four years at Biola. He is also a very talented and hard-working runner that will absolutely give you his best no matter what. I'm happy to contribute to Ryan's growth as a young man over the next four years and am very happy he chose Biola!"
 
St. Pierre was named the team MVP for varsity cross country three times and also scooped up a track team MVP honor during his high school career. He had multiple individual CIF qualifications in cross country and track & field and he also helped his cross country team be CIF finalists in both 2015 and 2016 (the first two times in school history).
 
He captained both the cross country and track & field teams and helped lead the track team to three league championships and the cross country squad to one league championship, which was the school's first in that sport since the 1980s.
 
In addition to the male student-athlete of the year award he was awarded from the Orange County Athletic Directors Association in 2017 he was given the "Athlete With Character" award.
 
His non-athletic accomplishments are just as impressive as those that happened while he was running. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative GPA of 4.41. He speaks Chinese Mandarin to earn the Seal of Biliteracy. He was a four-year ASB member and served as ASB president. He was vice president of a campus club that helps special needs students refine their social skills, and he volunteers two nights a week at his church.
 
"I find my identity in Christ and Christ alone and do all I do to glorify the Lord whether it's running, going to church, going to school, or anything else to God be all the glory for all," said St. Pierre.
 
Ryan comes to Biola this fall and plans to study mathematics and computer science. He wants to get into secondary education as a teacher before entering high school administration.
 
"After my visit I found Biola as simply the best fit due to the location, academics, atmosphere, team and Christ-centered education," said St. Pierre. "[My youth pastor and I] talked and realized God was leading me to Biola for several reasons as I'll be able to grow in the Lord as I'm plugged into my church and participating in a Christ-centered education and athletic program. Praise God for leading me to such a prestigious university like Biola, go Eagles!"
