INDIAN HILLS, Calif. --- For the second season in a row Biola Women's Tennis has claimed at least one win at the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament.
 
The ladies made a splash in the opening round at Indian Wells by beating Westmont 5-2 to clinch a second round matchup with San Diego Christian.
 
Unlike matches in the regular season, tournament matches end as soon as one team clinches five wins, which explains the strange finishing score.
 
The day began with doubles, which went in favor of the Eagles as they claimed 8-3 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings. Lauren Lee and Brooke Sanford combined for the win at No. 2, while Tinisee Kandakai and Katie Boesl picked up the other win at No. 3.
 
The strong doubles display made it so that the Eagles only needed to win half of the singles matches in order to clinch the win. Kelsey Post began the path to victory by closing out a straight-set (6-1; 6-1) win at No. 5 in the first singles match to finish.
 
A Westmont win at No. 2 was the only other matchup to go in the Warriors' favor as Tinisee Kandakai and Madeline Heer quickly finished off their opponents at No. 4 and No. 1 to secure the match.
 
Kandakai beat her opponent also in straight sets (6-4; 6-1) to earn her team-high 10^th singles victory of the season. Heer, who earlier in the day learned she had earned all-conference honors, beat Westmont's No. 1 (7-5; 6-3) to clinch the match to make it 5-2.
 
Biola becomes 7-13 with the win and faces San Diego Christian at noon Wednesday.
