Box Score EL CAJON, Calif. --- The No. 3 Biola University Eagles sealed up a 2-0 week in Golden State Athletic Conference play with an 82-62 victory over the San Diego Christian Hawks on Saturday night.

The Eagles traveled to Grossmont College to take on the Hawks in the first of two meetings between these sides this year.

Early it looked like it would be a classic low-scoring Biola victory as the Eagles took control of the game from the opening tip. BU scored the first eight points of the contest and held a 25-13 lead with just under six minutes until the half.

However, it was a troubling final six minutes as fouls began to pile up and San Diego Christian was able to take advantage of two separate and-one opportunities. The Hawks scored 10 of the next 15 total points to tighten that game as the game transitioned into the final minute of the half.

The Eagles reigned things back in a bit heading into the break as their star
Dakari Archer took over and scored five points in a row to get the Biola lead back to double-digits at 37-27. The final three points of the half were scored as he took on his man one-on-one and hit a step-back three with three seconds left.

He was 5-of-6 from the floor and had a game-high 14 points in the first half.
Alex Talma also put in a strong 15 minutes off the bench, shooting 3-of-5 for six points. Included in those six points was a flashy fade away jumper that allowed him to continue to show off his improving jump shot.

Even with some of the foul trouble and the fact that the team was missing its most accurate shooter (
Jeff Gonzalez) Biola managed to 62 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes.

The hot shooting remained in the second frame as the team would end up with its second-best shooting performance of the season, shooting 59.2 percent (29-of-49).

Caelan Tiongon and
Trevor Treinen played a huge role in Biola's ability to extend its lead in the second half. They both poured in 12 points in the second half and shot 60 percent and 66 percent, respectively.

Almost all of those 24 points were scored in the painted area, as Tiongon showed his usual display of toughness and incredible body control and Treinen joined him with some flashy moves around the hoop.

One stretch in particular, in the middle of the second half, Treinen put on quite the show in back-to-back possessions. The sophomore guard drove base line through heavy traffic to drop in a layup. The very next possession he cut through to the hoop missed a layup, grabbed his own rebound and put it back through contact before converting on the and-one opportunity.

It was plays like that which helped the Eagles outscore the Hawks 45-35 in the second frame to walk away with its third GSAC win of the year.

Archer would lead all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Treinen and Tiongson were next with 16 each. Biola dominated the physical play all night long, outrebounding the Hawks 30-22. The Eagles also put on a clinic in ball movement, getting 14 assists to SDC's eight.

Biola improves to 17-2 on the season and moves a bit closer to the top of the conference standings by improving to 3-2. The Eagles sit a game and a half back of conference-leader Westmont (5-1). The season continues with a road trip to Phoenix on Tuesday for a matchup against Arizona Christian (12-5, 0-5 GSAC).
