RAMONA, Calif. --- Gabe Plendcio is used to winning and winning a lot. He graduates from Ramona High School this spring and will join Biola Cross Country and Track & Field in the fall.
 
During his time at Ramona Plendcio was named his team's most valuable runner during 2014-15 cross country and 2015-16 track & field. He was the Valley League Cross Country Champion in 2014 and runner-up in 2015.
 
"Gabe meets what I am looking for in a student-athlete in so many ways," said Head Coach Sean Henning. "He is a strong Christian, he is actively involved in his church and ministry and has great leadership qualities."
 
Plendcio will be a collegiate student-athlete with a lot of potential. He comes to Biola with just two years of cross country racing under his belt. During just his second year running cross he finished 29^th at the California championship meet this fall.
 
In 2014 he helped lead his team to a Valley League Championship and CIF Division III Championship.
 
"Gabe is an untapped talent that will thrive here at Biola in a lot of different ways," said Henning. "I'm excited to have him as a part of our program next fall."
 
Plendcio is also a stellar student who earned the Principal's Award (4.0 GPA or higher) each year from 2013-16. He also had a spot on the All-Academic team from 2012-16.
 
He currently majors in sociology with plans to change to communications. After his college career is done he hopes to coach and enter a career as a sports journalist.
 
"From the moment I stepped foot on campus and looked around on my first visit to Biola, I knew this was home," said Plendcio. "The environment of Biola is truly amazing and is what neutrally brought me into my interest of school. Upon meeting coach Henning and talking with him about the education, running and the school in general, everything about what he was talking about was 100 percent faith based. That faith based education and the Christian values Biola holds is what I am truly looking forward to next fall."
