ROCKLIN, Calif. --- After tuning up with five regular season races Head Coach Sean Henning's Biola Cross Country teams are ready to get to some meaningful races, beginning Saturday Nov. 5 at the 2016 Golden State Athletic Conference Championships.
 
The women's 5k championship race is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and the men's 8k is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. William Jessup is the championship host and will host the races at Johnson Springview Park in Rocklin, Calif.
 
The Eagles' women's program is looking to win the GSAC Championships for the fifth time since 2010 and repeat its 2015 championship performance. Biola comes into the race as the top-ranked team in the conference. The Eagles are ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, with the next best team in the conference being No. 6 The Master's University.
 
Biola and The Master's have competed in the same event twice this season. Biola finished higher than the Mustangs at the UCR Invitational and The Master's finished higher than an abbreviated Biola team at the CSU Fullerton Invite.
 
The Eagles finished first by a margin of 23 points in 2015 with Kellian Hunt earning the individual conference title and eight Biolans earning all-conference honors. Lyndee Dawson, Hannah Hunsaker and Emily Ransom could each compete for that conference title this year as Biola seems setup well to earn the title again in its last year in the GSAC.

The men's team made it its goal from the get-go this season to earn their first Golden State Athletic Conference team championship. Tomorrow morning is their chance to achieve such heights. The Eagles' are also the highest ranked GSAC team in the national polls on the men's side at No. 5. Westmont is ranked No. 8 and The Master's No. 12 as the next best competitors.

The Mustangs are looking for their seventh-consecutive men's conference title, but could be in for a big challenge. They've raced head-to-head with The Master's twice this season. TMU finished a slim six points ahead of the Eagles at the UCR Invite and Biola did not field a full team to get a time score when they competed at the CSU Fullerton Invite.
 
If Biola's top three (Miles Brubacher, Gabe Plendcio, Ryan Thompson) can put up some good times and the 4-7 men each shave a few seconds from their time the Eagles could definitely be able to compete for the 'ship.
 
The winning teams from each race earn an automatic team qualifier for the NAIA National Cross Country Championships in Illinois later this month. No live results are available, but we will post them on this website and our social media channels as soon as we get them from the hosts.
