Break Out The Brooms...Again.

Biola wins its sixth-straight match by way of sweep as it knocks out conference-foe Hope International

Tess Van Grouw and Alex Brehaut combined for 13 digs as BU out-dug HIU 39-23.
Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The train just kept rolling on Saturday night as No. 1 Biola Volleyball overcame a third-set scare to defeat Hope International in three (25-20, 25-10, 25-22) to earn its sixth consecutive three-set sweep.

After taking much of the night off on Friday Joclyn Kirton stole the show on Saturday night with an impressive 14-kill performance. In accumulating those kills she hit .591 to lead all attackers.

Biola's attack was hit-or-miss through much of the night, which allowed the Royals to keep it close in two of the three sets despite having a very much one-pronged attack in the form of Conley Kipp, who led the opponents with 10 kills and a .318 hitting percentage.

The first few points had everyone's heart racing as HIU stormed out to a 4-1 lead and looked poised to make a run at their first set win over Biola since October 2010. The Eagles won eight of 11 points to pass HIU and take the set lead at 9-8 and never trailed again in the set. The Royals did keep within a point all the way up to 16-15, but Biola won three straight, and then nine of the next 13 to finish the set off with a kill from Kirton.

Set two was never in doubt as Biola came out and absolutely pummeled the ball all over the court. The Eagles won the set by 15 points thanks to a .789 hitting percentage stemming from 15 kills on 19 attack attempts.

Tori Moons and Ashton Arbuthnot did an excellent job of funneling good sets to all of the Eagles' attackers in the dominant second set, with each of them bringing in five assists. Arbuthnot was fantastic in service too, as she raked in two of her team-high three aces in set no. 2.

Set three was the most exciting of the evening as Hope International took advantage of a late series of Biola errors to bring the game back within one point at 21-22. Biola had a 21-14 lead before a big bunch of blunders that HIU capitalized on.

From that point Biola won three of the final four points to seal the set at 25-22 and ensure another blemish-free finish.

Joining Kirton as standouts on the stat sheet were another trio of attackers. Notably, Britta Blaser ended the night with seven kills and a .235 hitting percentage, while Lauren Hoenecke and Karly Dantuma added six kills each and hit above .200.

Biola improves to 10-0 (2-0 GSAC) with the victory and Hope International falls to 2-6 (1-1 GSAC) after they entered the match on a two-match winning streak.

The Eagles hit the road for their first official "road" matches of the season next week at William Jessup on Friday and Menlo on Saturday.
