LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola had to host a top-15 team from the NAIA yesterday and then turn right back around to battle a top-5 team in NCAA DII on Saturday, facing BYU-Hawaii.
Â
The Seasiders proved to be too much for the Eagles to handle in a 0-9 loss.
Â
"It is one of the most respectful teams you will see in tennis," said Head Coach
Dee Henry. "They are a credit to their coach, Dave Porter, who is a master teaching pro and 2012 USPTA Pro of the Year."
Â
Porter led the Seasiders to consistent and powerful play in the sweep of Biola, as BYU-Hawaii got six two-set singles wins and allowed no doubles pairing to post more than four points in the match.
Â
Brooke Sanford got the closest of any Eagle to stealing a set, losing 3-6 in her first set and 1-6 in the second set at No. 5. She was the only Biola player to not get blanked in a singles set.
Â
"Our players were stroking the ball right with them," said Henry. "We had fewer forced errors than usual and our players were making them earn their points."
Â
The loss causes Biola's record to slide to 1-6, while the No. 4 Seasiders improve to 8-0 early in their season. Biola returns to action on Feb. 28 in a road match at Westmont.
