Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Basketball improved to 2-0 in Golden State Athletic Conference play with a 85-70 victory over Arizona Christian on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles parlayed a very strong third and fourth quarter into this convincing win over the Firestorm. After holding just a four-point lead after two quarters the team opened up in the final two frames to end with its 15-point advantage.

"The coaching staff is grateful for the mental strength, teamwork and coachable spirit this team continues to display," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "It is a pleasure for us to work with them on a daily basis. Arizona Christian is a talented and well-coached team."

Biola struggled to rebound in its offensive end in the first half, which resulted in the game being close even though the Eagles shot 10 percent better from the field than ACU.

DeMoria White and Danielle Kennedy lit up the floor with nine points each. White was 2-for-2 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line in another consistent performance.

Madison Austin kept the Firestorm in the game with a 4-of-6 shooting performance.

The Eagles score 20-plus points in each of the final three quarters as they attempted to stretch the game. Biola outscored ACU in each frame, but it was a 27-17 advantage in the fourth-quarter that made the biggest difference.

Arizona Christian tightened the game to as close as two points after a hot start to the fourth quarter, but their offense dropped off considerably over the final four minutes. Biola scored 14 of the final 15 points in the game in cruising to the win.

White exploded for 18 more points in the second half as she worked her way up to a game-high 27 points. A bunch of those points came from the free-throw line as she ended the night 12-of-14 from the stripe as ACU began to pile up the personal fouls.

The Eagles took advantage of their 36 chances from the line by converting 75 percent of their chances. Biola got 14 more points off of fouls than ACU did.

Kennedy, Aubree Mittel and Sara Dougan joined White in double-digit scoring. Kennedy ended with 17, Mittel with 13 and Dougan with 10. The Eagles' big freshman also added nine rebounds and three blocks in a strong night all around.

Tina Esbenshade played a solid 15 minutes off the bench after missing the last game. She was 3-of-4 from the floor to pile up seven points.

The win pushes Biola to 8-3 (2-0 GSAC) and drops Arizona Christian to 5-5 (0-1 GSAC).

This was a tough test and now its time to get ready for final exams," said Nakamura.
