CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Biola Cross Country is in Charlotte for the 2015 NAIA Cross Country Championships. The event takes place Nov. 21 at McAlpine Creek Park. The men run an 8k championship race at 7:30 a.m. PT and the women run a 5k championship race at 8:30 a.m. PT.
 
Biola's men's team is represented at the championship for the first time since 2011. Back-to-back Golden State Athletic Conference individual champion Kevin Horchler will lead them into the meet. He looks his first career cross country All-American honors.
 
The Eagles' women's team in a perennial team qualifier, but this year holds a special amount of promise as Biola enters the race ranked as the No. 2 team in the NAIA. The Eagles have worked up to that No. 2 ranking with a phenomenal season that smashed the expectations of a preseason No. 18 national ranking.
 
No Biola team has ever won an NAIA National Championship. The women's squad will likely battle head-to-head with the No. 1 Northwest Christian Beacons for this year's title.

Northwest Christian leads the NAIA top-25 Coaches' Poll with 498 points and all 18 first place votes after winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference title for the second year in a row.
 
Biola shredded the competition at the 2015 Golden State Athletic Conference championship meet, getting the individual conference champion in Kellian Hunt and eight all-conference individual performances.
 
Biola's big three of Hunt, Anika Gasner and Lyndee Dawson will have to outpace NCU's top-2 of Alyssa Harmon and Sierra Brown.
 
The Beacons finished third in last year's race, which was the highest finish in their school history. Biola's women finished third in 2013 and also had runner-up finishes in 2009 and 2010 in a long history of success at this meet.
