Late Lack Of Scoring Costs The Eagles A Win

Biola goes seven minutes and four seconds without a field goal down the stretch in a loss.

Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- A trying second-half shooting performance saw Biola Women's Basketball blow a lead against visiting Chapman that it would be unable to regain down the stretch in a 62-55 loss.

The Eagles and Panthers played each other close through each of the first three quarters as each quarter ended with a one-point differential. The fourth quarter was where Biola fell behind the eight ball by only putting nine points on the board while the visiting team tied its game-high 17.

The Panthers were carried to victory by Jaime Hum-Nishikado who drained six open three-point shots in putting up a game-high 20. Her six made three-point shots was one more than the Biola team put up in a night that was difficult from deep (5-for-21).

Danielle Kennedy was the Eagles' top scoring threat, and most consistent player defensively, all night long. She was 7-for-14 from the floor and finished with 16 points and a couple steals.

She, like the rest of the squad, was bitten by the turnover bug as Biola coughed the ball up 25 times on the night, which allowed for 19 free points to the Panthers, which ultimately made the big difference.

This outcome was especially heartbreaking for the Eagles, because even though the game was close throughout Biola seemed like the better team on the floor for just about all of the night. The Eagles held a lead as late as with 7:08 left on the clock. However, the team went 7:04 without making a field goal as Chapman ran down the clock and ran up the score as the Eagles seemingly ran out of gas.

Biola falls to 3-2 after the loss. Chapman remains at 0-0 as the game was an exhibition for this NCAA Division III side.

The Eagles have a chance for redemption back at home this Friday. Biola hosts the Orediggers of Montana Tech at 5:30 p.m.
