Box Score SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- The 2015 season has been all about outstanding performances from Biola's large senior class and Tuesday night's 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-14) win over The Master's College was no different.
Tonight's senior of choice was
Britta Blaser. The outside hitter was on top of her game from start to finish as she sprayed balls all over the court from line to line in a dominating performance over the Mustangs. She led the team with 14 kills on 24 attack attempts with a .500 hitting percentage. It was Blaser's first 10-plus kill, 20-plus attack attempt game since the Eagles' match with Park two weeks ago.
It was an offensive battle throughout with both teams having very successful attack efficiency and the defensive numbers relatively low on both sides.
Biola won the slugfest by limiting attack errors. The Eagles had just six errors while the Mustangs had 19, which made an automatic 13-point difference.
The closest set of the night came in the second of the sweep, which coincidentally was The Master's' best attack percentage set and the one in which they had the lowest number of attacking errors.
The Mustangs benefitted from having Aubrey Pyburn back in their rotation after their big outside missed some time due to injury. She had eight kills and a block in helping keep the match close.
In the end the story remains the tremendous individual performance from Blaser who had twice as many kills as any other Eagle.
Joclyn Kirton's seven was the next best followed by
Karly Dantuma's six.
Ashton Arbuthnot served as the primary setter on this night and set the Eagles' attackers to a .395 overall hitting percentage with her 20 assists.
The Eagles improve to 23-2 (12-1 GSAC) with the victory and are now 53-1 all-time against TMC. The Mustangs fall to 18-9 (9-4 GSAC). Biola's challenging week continues with a road trip to Santa Barbara on Saturday for a date with No. 16 Westmont.
