Big Bopping Pushes Eagles Past 30 Wins

Biola has hit the 30-win plateau for the first time since they got 32 in 2007.

Mackenzie Magro slapped the ball around and scored two runs in Tuesday's doubleheader sweep.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LANCASTER, Calif. --- Biola cruised to two easy victories over the University of Antelope Valley on Tuesday afternoon and positioned itself just four wins away from its preseason target.

The Eagles improved to 31-7 following the two non-conference victories and are currently ranked No. 13 in the NAIA headed into their final four games of the regular season.

The team can use all the wins it can get as it attempts to move up in the NAIA coaches' poll in order to ensure a spot in the national tournament. Today it got a 10-2 win in the opener and a 6-0 shutout in the nightcap.

Today was a dominant display of all three facets of the game as the Eagles combined for 24 hits and 16 runs scored while holding the Pioneers to just two runs on the afternoon.

It was a different day in the circle for Biola as Head Coach Lorie Coleman used CeCe Luster for seven innings in game one and Reba DePriest for seven innings in the nightcap rather than alternating them mid-game.

Luster got the win in the opener, with Kimmy Triolo also seeing a few batters in the circle. She improves to 16-7 with the seven-inning, four-hit win. She did not allow any runs and tallied 10 strikeouts during her time in the middle of the diamond.

DePriest tallied nine Ks as she worked her way to a complete game shutout in game two. She improves to 15-0 on the season and has not allowed an earned run since March 18 at No. 1 Concordia.

Heather Hall continued to sizzle, picking up five RBI on the afternoon and tacking on another homerun to take the team-lead with five. She was especially excellent in Biola's high-scoring game one performance, going 3-for-4 with her homerun, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored.

Luster also continued her senior campaign in style with a three-hit game in the opener and a 2-for-4 performance with a big fly of her own in the second game. She tied it back up with Hall after hitting her fifth jack of the season.

Kasey Hormel continued to let everyone know who she is, as she scored multiple runs and had two multi-hit ballgames.

Neither contest was close at all, especially in the second game where DePriest allowed just two hits. The Eagles used today to tune up for their marquee matchup with No. 1 Concordia this Saturday.

The game will likely decide the top of the Golden State Athletic Conference as these two teams are No. 1 and No. 2 in the conference, and it is also the Eagles' senior day and the team will honor Luster, Celina Thornton and Vanessa Coleman.
