Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Final Minute Flameout

Biola lost control of a nine point advantage with 2:30 to play, and falls 54-52 to Bethesda.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Turnovers made all the difference in a very sloppy game on Monday night in Chase Gymnasium. Biola and Bethesda turned the ball over to one another a total of 54 times in a 54-52 Bethesda win.

The loss drops Biola to 0-9, their worst start since they lost12 straight in 1996-97. Both teams looked out of sorts throughout the evening, shooting a combined 37.6 percent from the floor.

Biola seemed to be in the driver's seat when they were up by nine points with two and a half minutes to play, but they turned the ball over twice and missed five shots in the final few ticks to let the Flames back into the game.

Bethesda was money from the floor throughout those last couple minutes, looking like a completely different team from the rest of the game. They made five of seven shots to turn a nine-point deficit to a two-point advantage.

Adijat Adams had a chance with the ball in her hands as the clock ticked to :00, and she was able to get off two solid looks from behind the arc, but both bounced away and took the Eagles' hopes to get in the win column with them.

Lisette Longomo and Emilie Munnandibu were the two powerful presences on the court for the Flames as they staged their comeback win, combining for five points and three rebounds down the stretch.

Longomo led the Flames with 15 points and Munnandibu snagged 11 rebounds to lead Bethesda. Adijat Adams had another powerful performance, grabbing 10 rebounds and putting up 17 points to get her fifth double-double of the year.

Kiara Clark had a strong game filling in as the Eagles' deep threat, picking up 11 points, but shooting just 3-12 from three-point land.

Bethesda dominated the inside game tonight, taking advantage of Munnandibu's 6'5" frame to outscore the Eagles 28-16 in the paint. Despite coughing the ball up 28 times, BU was able to limit the Flames' productivity off of the giveaways, holding them to just 11 points off turnovers.

Biola will take a short break to move on from the latest setback, and they resume their season with a home game against William Jessup Dec. 7.
