Eight Is Great

Eight Eagles, the most ever in a single season, earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Awards season continues as eight Eagles claim yet another national honor as the men and women's cross country National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' scholar athlete teams were released.

Four men and four women earned the academic honors from the NAIA, once again giving Biola the most nods of any school in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

The awards are evident of Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman's persistent stressing of the important of academics, and the commitment the Eagles' athletes make to success in the classroom.

Collin Christensen, Andrew Daedler, Mark Diaz and Andy Edmondson won the award for the men's squad, and Chelsea Janzen, Kasey Schalich, Alexandra Sciarra and Carrie Soholt got the nods on the national championship-bound women's side.

The eight Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete nods are the most ever in a single season by Biola Cross Country.

In order to receive a NAIA Scholar-Athlete nod, the athletes must attain a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average and be a junior. Edmondson, Janzen, Schalich and Sciarra each earned their second cross country scholar-athlete honor, after receiving it last season as well.
