McGrath Outmuscles Eagles In Montana

Chris McGrath of CC drops 35 on Biola to lead to the Eagles' 57-70 loss.

Andre Murillo added his second double-double of the season in a 57-70 loss to Carroll.
Box Score HELENA, Mont. --- Despite a very tightly contested first half and a stellar performance by Andre Murillo, the Eagles dropped a tight one on night one in Montana, falling 70-57 to Carroll College.

Biola shot well from the floor, but fell way short from behind the line and beyond the arc, and that made the 13 point difference that swung the game in favor of the Saints. Well, that, and the 35-point brilliant shooting performance by CC's Chris McGrath.

McGrath had the game of his life, playing all but about 20 seconds and draining nine three-pointers, and 12 of 18 overall, to set a new career high and push all hopes of a comeback out the window for the Eagles.

McGrath, of course, led all scorers with his tremendous tally, but Murillo followed behind him with 17 points, the most on Biola and second most overall. He grabbed an even split of five offensive and five defensive boards in order to push his second double-double of the season and second straight game with 17 points.

While McGrath was busy sinking nine three-point shots, the Eagles made only five three-pointers as a squad. They missed 12 from beyond the arc, to lead to their second consecutive game with a three-point percentage under 30 percent.

Mike Kurtz continued his solid start by shooting 60 percent from the floor, second best only to Murillo.

The Eagles won the battle of the boards and had fewer turnovers than the Saints, but fell victim to CC's successful shooting. The loss moves Biola to 1-2 on the season and helps improve Carroll to 2-3. Biola stays in Montana to take on Montana Tech tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
