Six Eagles Cross Country Runners Earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete Honors

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University saw six athletes on the cross country teams earn 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors including four from the men's team and two from the women's team as announced by the national office on Friday.

The women's team, which finished 10th at the NAIA National Championship Meet on Saturday morning was represented by seniors Kasey Schalich (Windsor, Calif.) and Rachel Stump (Los Gatos, Calif.) and by juniors Chelsea Janzen (Clovis, Calif.) and Alexandra Sciarra (Orange, Calif.).

On the men's side, Biola junior Scott Weir (Simi Valley, Calif.) and junior Andrew Edmondson (Des Moines, Wash.) earned recognition.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
