Biola Loses 2-0 at Westmont

Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Biola suffered a tough loss, falling 2-0 at No. 15 Westmont on Saturday in a GSAC contest at Thorrington Field in Santa Barbara.

The Eagles fall to 5-5-1 and to 2-2-0 in GSAC play while the Warriors move to 7-3-1 and to 3-1-0 in the conference.

Biola had a tough time offensively against Westmont, which likely had the memory of the Eagles' upset win against the Warriors in Santa Barbara last year. Biola managed just five shots in the contest to the Warriors' 17 though solid plays by Briana Williams in goal helped keep the game close.

The Warriors struck first with a goal in the 11th minute on a cross to the back post which Aolani Rueff touched it home for the first goal. Just before the half, Westmont added another goal in a similar fashion with Ashley Correa scoring the goal.

But Biola did a great job thwarting other Westmont attempts, trapping the Warriors offside six times with Williams making five saves.

Biola's best chance to score came just before the end of the first half as Natalie Oliver had a solid shot on goal stopped by Westmont goalkeeper Lindsey Smith. Oliver had a team-high three shots in the contest.

The Eagles return to the pitch on Wednesday to face San Diego Christian College in a GSAC match at 4:30 p.m.
