Andre Murillo scored 26 points and contributed 13 rebounds as Biola defeated Arizona Christian for the second time in 14 days, this time winning by a final score of 83-63 on Saturday afternoon in Phoenix.
The Eagles improve to 5-1 on the season despite playing their first game in 10 days, while the Firestorm fall to 1-4.
Murrilo had yet another solid showing, recording his fourth double-double while connecting on 10-of-14 shots from the field. He went 6-of-7 from the charity stripe and recorded 13 rebounds--four on the offensive glass.
Kyle Bailey came off the bench to score 12 points and had six rebounds for the rebounds while
Zack Zaragoza and
Chase Adams added 10 points.
Biola opened the game with a solid first half, building up a 46-21 lead, hitting 16-of-27 from the field in the first 20 minutes. Adams opened the half with three three-pointers as the Eagles hit all five of their shots from beyond the arc.
In the second half, Arizona Christian hit over 60 percent from the field to keep the game within 20 the rest of the way.
The Firestorm was led by A.J. Koch with 19 points while Albert Suniga added 18.
Biola returns to action on Saturday, December 3, hosting Vanguard University in its GSAC opener at 7:30 p.m. in Chase Gymnasium.
