Biola Rides Big Second Half to 54-41 Win Over Cal State Dominguez Hills

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Adijat Adams scored 13 points and added eight rebounds and Emily Drews contributed 10 points as Biola used a big second-half to pull out a 54-41 non-conference victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday night at Chase Gymnasium.

The Eagles pick up their second-straight win and improve to 4-1 on the season while the Toros fall to 1-3 overall.

Adams had yet another solid night for Biola, recording 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting, adding eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals. She had seven of those points in the pivotal second half while Drews scored nine of her 12 in the final 20 minutes as well.

Biola jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead just over four minutes in with a quick seven-point run. Cal State Dominguez Hills fought back and tied took a 13-11 lead six minutes later, capped by a three-pointer by Porsha Davis, who pulled up on a fastbreak for the trey. The two teams would continue to play close the rest of the period and headed to the half with the Toros holding a slim 22-21 lead.

Cal State Dominguez Hills stretched its lead to three early in the second half, holding a 26-23 advantage two minutes in. But Biola fired back with a long 18-3 run to blow the game open and go up 41-29 with 10:23 to play. The Eagles would hit their free throws down the stretch and hold on for the double-digit win.

The Eagles had a solid shooting night, hitting 45% from the field (18-of-40) including hitting 10-of-20 in the second half.

Biola returns to the court on Monday, Nov. 21, hosting Wayland Baptist University on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
