Adijat Adams scored a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds, three blocks and a steal as BIola cruised to an 82-32 non-conference victory over cross-town foe Whittier College on Tuesday nigth at Chase Gymnasium.
The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season while handing the Poets a loss in their season-opener.
Biola played solid defense and led wire-to-wire to pick up the victory with all 12 Eagles recording at least one rebound and 11 picking up at least one point. Senior guard
Emily Drews scored 11 points for Biola while freshman center
Haley Nickel came off the bench to contribute 10 points.
The Eagles held Whittier to just 22.8% shooting in the contest and did not allow a three-pointer in 13 shots. Biola also dominated on the glass against the under-sized Poets, holding a 64-30 rebounding edge, and outscored Whittier 38-12 in the Paint. Biola also forced 25 Whittier turnovers leading to 22 points for the Eagles.
BIola opened the game with 12-2 run but Whittier fought back and cut the lead to seven at 17-10 with 11:59 to go in the period. However, the Eagles answered back with 11-straight points over the next five minutes en route to outscoring the Poets 23-5 over the rest of the half to go up 40-15 at the break.
Biola opened the second half on a 14-4 run which featured 11-straight point by Adams in the early going and cruised from there.
Brittany Aranda led Whittier with eight points while Alex Coon added seven.

Elizabeth Munger narrowly missed a double-double in the game, recording nine points and 10 boards. Junior guard
Becca DeVere, the lone player that didn't score a point for Biola helped out in numerous other ways, recording six rebounds and adding three assists, two steals and a block.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday, hosting NCAA Division II Cal State Dominguez Hills in a non-conference game at Chase Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
