Biola Plays to 2-2 Tie With Point Loma Nazarene

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola netted two goals for the first time in six games, but could not snap its school-record streak of ties as the Eagles played to a 2-2 draw with Point Loma Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon in La Mirada.

The tie should not have come as much of a surprise as the teams have played the most overtime contests and the most ties of any GSAC team. It was the fourth-straight tie for the Eagles who move to 4-4-6 on the season and to 1-2-5 in GSAC play. The Sea Lions are now 5-4-5 and 3-3-3 in the conference.

After a socreless first half, Biola got on the board first with a goal in the 53rd minute as Sarina Coutin scored her first goal as an Eagle by heading in a corner kick.

However, just 13 seconds later, Point Loma found the equalizer as Lindsay Bollar took a quick shot from the right side to tie the score at 1-1.

The Sea Lions then went on top with a goal in the 75th minute as Erica Wessels finished from just in front of the net to put Point Loma up 2-1.

But Biola managed to tie the score just six minute later with Coutin finding Jessica Austin.

However, that would be it for scoring with Biola recording just two shots in extra time while Point Loma took four shots with three on goal.

The Eagles now head into the final week of the season sitting in a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot. Biola is tied with Vanguard for that final spot and plays the Lions on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles close out the regular season at home against The Master's College at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
