Eagles Play to 1-1 Tie at Hope International

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Sophomore Ashleigh Cooley scored six minutes in and Biola fought off a relentless attack the rest of the way to earn a road point with a 1-1 draw at Hope International University in GSAC match on Tuesday.

The Eagles record the much-needed point to snap a two-match losing streak and move to 4-4-3 on the season and to 1-2-2 in conference play. The Royals are now 4-6-2 and 0-4-2 in the GSAC.

Cooley picked up the goal early on,  receiving a great pass from Morgan Gage and firing a shot which ricocheted off the crossbar then off the keeper and into the goal.

The two teams played pretty evenly the rest of the first half, but Hope kicked it up a notch in the second half and picked up the tying goal in the 60th minute as Leslie White headed in a corner kick to knot the score at 1-1.

The Royals continued the assault, outshooting the Eagles 14-2 over the course of the second half and the two overtimes. However, Biola netminder Erin Frushon made six saves to keep the score tied.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, hosting Concordia University at 2:30 p.m. in the first game of the Fall Ball tripleheader against Concordia. Biola's men's soccer team and volleyball team also play Concordia with the men's soccer match kicking off at 5:00 p.m. and the volleyball match starting at 7:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and enjoy all three contests with food, fun and prizes abounding.
