BOX SCORE

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Three players scored 12 points and five players reached double-figures to lead Biola to a 63-51 GSAC victory over The Master's College on Tuesday night at Chase Gymnasium.

The Eagles, who snap a three-game home losing streak with the victory, improve to 20-8 overall and remain tied for fourth in the GSAC with an 11-7 record. The Mustangs fall to 15-13 and 7-11 in conference play.

Biola was led by the 12 points of Josh Miller, Nate Rakestraw and Andrew Schroeder while Danny Campbell added 11 points and Rocky Hampton# scored 10 points. Miller also added 11 rebounds to his total and Hampton contributed four blocks to his GSAC-leading total.

This helped offset an incredible night by Ryan Zamroz, who scored 31 of the Mustangs' 51 points on 12-of-17 shooting.

The Eagles opened up the game strong, hitting eight of their first nine shots from the field to help build an early 17-6 lead. The Mustangs used a short run to pull within three, but headed to the locker room trailing by eight at 30-22.

In the second half, it was The Master's turn to start out hot, using a 10-2 run to tie the game at 32-32 on a basket by Ryan Zamroz in the paint. However, the Mustangs were unable to take their first lead of the game as Zamroz missed a free throw after being fouled on the previous shot.

But Biola responded quickly with an 11-1 run started by Campbell, who drained a three-pointer from the top of the arc to give the Eagles the lead right back. The Mustangs cut the lead back to seven a few minutes later on a Zamroz  three-pointer, but Biola's 10-2 run over the next four minutes put the game out of reach.

The Eagles hit an impressive 56 percent in the first half, which helped offset a 38.5 percent in the second half. It was also the fourth time in the last five games that Biola held an opponent under 54 points, allowing just 51 points as the Mustangs hit just 37.5 percent from the field in the game.

Biola's next game could turn out to be its biggest of the season as the Eagles travel to Riverside to take on California Baptist on Saturday (Feb. 28) at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are currently tied for fourth in the conference and likely will determine which team hosts a first-round GSAC playoff game. The winner likely will host the loser in the first round of the GSAC playoffs and will still have an outside chance at a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
