BOX SCORE

SAN DIEGO --- No. 22 Point Loma Nazarene scored a goal in the 77th minute and held off a late Biola charge to earn a 1-0 GSAC victory on Saturday afternoon in San Diego.

The Eagles fall to 6-6-1 overall and to 2-6-1 in GSAC play while the Sea Lions improve to 10-4-1 on the season and to 5-4-0 in conference.

The match was a hard-fought battle through the first half as the teams combined for 11 shots through the first 45 minutes. However they headed to the half tied at 0-0. The second half was controlled by Point Loma Nazarene, who outshot the Eagles 7-1 over the final 45 minutes. The Sea Lions' pressure culminated in the late goal as Erica Wessels headed home a corner kick from Lauren Hernandez in the 77th minute.

Biola managed just five shots in the contest with a pair of them on frame. The Eagles had a great chance to strike first in the 64th minute, but a rocket shot by Ashley Moseley was saved by PLNU's Tiffany Kracy, who recorded a pair of saves on the afternoon.

Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Frushon once again did her best to keep the Eagles in the match, recording three saves. However, Biola was just not able to find the back of the net for the fourth time in six matches. The Eagles are 6-1-1 when scoring a goal, but are 0-5-0 when held scoreless.

Biola returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 27), hosting Vanguard University in a GSAC battle beginning at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the start of the match, the Eagles will honor their seven seniors who will be playing in their final home match at Biola.
