Biola Falls 1-0 to Hope International in Double Overtime

BOX SCORE

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Harmony Pruett scored the match-winner in the 107th minute as Hope International defeated Biola 1-0 in double overtime of a GSAC match on Tuesday night on Al Barbour Field.

The loss drops the Eagles to 5-4-1 overall and to 1-4-0 in GSAC play. The Royals improve to 7-6-1 and to 1-5-0 in conference action with their first win over Biola in 17 all-time matches.

The Royals' goal came the final three minutes of the second overtime after the two teams battled in the wind and rain for nearly 110 minutes. Pruett took the ball down the right side of the field and with a great move, cut into the box for a one-on-one. The Hope forward then sent a quick shot to the far side, beating the keeper and scoring the lone goal of the match.

The two teams combined for 29 shots in the match, though just seven of those were on goal.

Hope goalkeeper Candy Bergst recorded three saves and faced 14 shots on the night, though most of the was on the Biola half. The Royals controlled play for much of the match and took 15 shots. Biola netminder Erin Frushon made three saves and came off her line to stop a number of other changes.

The Eagles return to the pitch on Saturday (Oct. 17), traveling to Irvine to face Concordia University in a GSAC battle beginning at Noon.
