SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Junior forward Rocky Hampton poured in 25 points and hit 10-of-14 from the field to lead Biola to a big GSAC road victory, downing The Master's College 65-54 on Tuesday night at Bross Gymnasium in Santa Clarita.

The Eagles improve to 13-5 on the season and move to 4-4 in GSAC play, picking up just its second road confence victory in five tries. The Mustangs fall to 12-6 on the season and are even with Biola at 4-4 in the conference.

Hampton had one of the best games of his career on Tuesday night, dominating on both ends as The Master's struggled to find a way to control him. He was 10-of-14 from the field, scoring 25 points and adding nine rebounds--five on the offensive end. In addition, he had five blocks and two assists in 30 minutes.

Joining the effort was sophomore guard Nate Rakestraw, who scored 10 points thanks to three three-pointers. Sophomore forward Josh Miller scored just five points, but was huge on the glass, pulling down 11 rebounds and dishing out four assists.

The game got off to an impressive start for the Mustangs, who hit six of their first seven three-pointers accounting for all but two of their first eight field goals. This helped them establish an early 22-18 lead as Drew Menez capped the early three-point barrage with 8:52 before the half. But the Eagles' slow, methodical work inside continued on even as The Master's hot shooting started to cool, going on a 16-4 run to close out the half and take a 34-26 lead to the locker room.

The Mustangs closed the gap to six with an early basket to start the second half and were down 37-30 just a minute into the half. However, Hampton converted a three-point play, then Danny Campbell followed with a deep three-pointer to stretch the lead to 13. Later in the half, The Master's again narrowed the gap down to just eight, but the Eagles continued their hot shooting and stretched the lead to double-figures with a layup by Miller to go up 54-43 with 6:09 to play.

Biola shot an impressive 46 percent in the game and connected on seven three-pointers in a gym that is traditionally one of the most difficult places to shoot in the GSAC. The Eagles also held The Master's to just 38 percent shooting and surrendered just two three pointers in the Mustangs final 14 three-point attempts after the initial barrage.

Jeremy Haggerty led The Master's with 21 points while Ryan Zamroz added 12 points.

Oddly enough, the first foul of the game wasn't called until there was 1:47 left in the first half. The first two fouls were whistled on Marlon King, who also picked up the first foul of the second half, giving him the first three fouls of the game. King finished with nine points, two steals and two assists.

The Eagles return to the court on Saturday (Jan. 24), hosting California Baptist University in a GSAC game at 7:30 p.m. in Chase Gymnasium.
