BOX SCORE

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Junior forward Danny Campbell took his cue from the torrential rain outside, raining three's inside Chase Gymnasium Wednesday night, tying a school-record with eight three-pointers and finishing with 26 points to lead Biola to an 88-57 non-conference win over Ashford University (Iowa).

The victory moves the Eagles to 7-2 on the season while dropping the Saints to 7-7.

For Campbell, it was the second time in his career he hit eight three-pointers in a game after draining eight at Vanguard during the 2007-08 season. In tonight's contest, the sophomore was nearly light's out, hitting his first seven from beyond the arc all in the first half.

Junior forward Rocky Hampton added 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for the Eagles with sophomore forward Josh Miller hitting for 12 and adding four assists and a pair of blocks. Sophomore post Andrew Schroeder rounded out Biola's four in double-figures with 10 points and contributed  seven rebounds and three assists.

Biola caught fire early thanks to Campbell's three-point barrage in the first half. With the score tied at 4-4 early on, the Eagles went to work with an impressive 29-4 run over the next eight minutes to go up 33-8 at the 8:04 mark. During the stretch, Biola drained seven three's with Marlon King and Josh Salo sandwiching five by Campbell.

The second half was more of the same from the Eagles, who again hit 55 percent from the field though Ashford managed to shoot 43 percent and keep the margin down. With another game looming for the Eagles in less than 24 hours, Biola cleared its bench early. Freshman forward Josh Pixler recorded nine points in six minutes of play, hitting 4-of-5 from the field.

The Eagles committed just nine turnovers in the game, but forced 12 by the Saints and turned those into 22 points. Biola also dominated inside, outscoring Ashford 38-18 in the paint.

Biola has little time to relish in its victory as the team hosts Indiana Wesleyan University on Thursday (Dec. 18). IWU is currently ranked No. 10 in the latest NAIA Division II rankings. The game will be played at Hope International University in Fullerton and will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in Darling Pavilion.
