BOX SCORE

SAN DIEGO --- Coming off a pair of its best shooting performances of the year, Biola went through a pair of long scoring droughts and eventually fell 64-55 to Point Loma Nazarene in a GSAC game on Saturday night at Golden Gym in San Diego.

The loss drops the Eagles to 6-2 on the season and 1-2 in conference play while the Sea Lions improve to 4-4 and 1-2 in GSAC.

Junior guard Marlon King had another strong performance, leading Biola with 19 points and five assists. Sophomore guard Nate Rakestraw recorded 13 points while junior forward Danny Campbell added 11 points in the losing effort.

Biola's shooting woes started early in the game. After hitting two of their first five shots, the Eagles missed their next nine shots and fell behind by three. King broke the scoring drought with a layup and Biola hung close, trailing by just three at the break.

The second half got off to a good start for the Eagles, who scored the first four points of the half to go up 25-24 two minutes into the half. But the shooting woes returned as Biola would record just one field goal over the next nine minutes leading to a 20-4 Point Loma Nazarene run which all but sealed up the game.

The Eagles would make the game close in the final few minutes, pulling within eight at 58-50 with 2:14 to go. But the Sea Lions would hit their free throws down the stretch and hang on for the nine-point victory.

Craig Austin led Point Loma with 19 points while D'Noble Shelton added 13 points.

Biola returns to action on Wednesday (Dec. 17), hosting Ashford University (Iowa) at 7:30 p.m. in Chase Gymnasium.
