CARSON, Calif. --- Biola struggled through a dismal second half and wound up losing its first game of the year, falling 72-58 to NCAA Division II Cal State Dominguez Hills in a non-conference game on Tuesday night at the Torodome in Carson.
The Eagles drop to 4-1 on the season while the Toros improve to 3-0 overall.

Megann Alberts and
Jessilyn Conicelli combined for 39 points and 12 rebounds to pace the attack.
After a strong first half, the Eagles struggled mightly in the second, hitting just 6-of-22 shots from the field--including just 1-of-10 from beyond the arc--and committing 12 turnovers. That combination led to Biola being outscored 34-21 in the final 20 minutes and suffering its first loss of the season.
Neka Mixon led the Toros with 24 points and added nine rebounds. She was 8-of-9 from the free throw line and dominated in the paint in the second half. Brittney Blankenship scored 13 points and Ennisha Kyles added 10.
Freshman guard
Charrise Reece poured in nine points and added fire steals and four assists in the losing cause. Fellow freshman
Emily Drews added eight points thanks to a pair of three-pointers.
Biola returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 2), opening Golden State Athletic Conference play with a trip up to Fresno to take on Fresno Pacific University at 5:30 p.m.
