LIVONIA, Mich. --- Junior outside hitter Meghan Warkentin was named Tournament MVP and Biola picked up another pair of victories on Saturday at the Madonna University Crusader Classic in Livonia, Michigan.

The Eagles, who improve to 24-4 on the season, defeated Madonna 30-14, 32-30, 30-17 and wrapped up the tournament with a 30-18, 30-24, 30-20 win over Lee University (Tenn.).

Warkentin led the way for the Eagles with 30 kills on the day including a match-high 17 in the morning sweep over Madonna.

Sophomore middle blocker Kristen Peterson was also named to the all-tournament team, recording 18 kills on the day and hitting over .500. She had 11 kills and hit .625 in the win over Lee.

Overall, Biola had a strong hitting day, posting a .355 attack percentage against Madonna and hitting .350 against Lee.

In the morning contest, the Eagles seemed to have little trouble against Madonna, which opened the season ranked No. 7 in the NAIA. However, Biola seemed to only be challenged in the second game, fighting off a late rally for the 32-30 win. Warkentin led Biola with 17 kills and 10 digs and junior outside hitter Kelsey Mitchell added 10 kills.

Against Lee, it was a different match, but same story as the Eagles were led by Warkentin's 13 kills and three blocks. Mitchell and Peterson each had 11 kills with Mitchell adding three blocks as well.

Sophomore libero Katie Stevens continued to play strong defense, recording 26 digs in the two matches. Biola's setters also played well with junior Christina Perkins posting 51 assists on the day and sophomore Abbie Wright adding 45.

The Eagles return to GSAC action with week with matches against the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in the NAIA on back-to-back days. Things open with Biola traveling to No. 3 Concordia on Tuesday (Oct. 30). The Eagles then return home on Wednesday (Oct. 31) to play host to No. 1 Fresno Pacific. Both matches are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
