Eagles Stay Hot

Biola extended their winning streak to seven with another straight-set victory.

ROCKLIN, Calif. --- Biola Volleyball continued its dominant stretch on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Jessup 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-13) at Warrior Arena for its seventh-consecutive straight-set victory.

The Eagles improved to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in PacWest play with another strong offensive performance. Biola totaled 38 kills with just four attack errors to hit .420 as a team, while holding Jessup to a .087 clip. BU also controlled the match from the service line with 12 aces and did not allow an ace.

Biola established control early in the opening set and never trailed. The Eagles jumped ahead 5-2 behind three early kills from Payton Tully and continued to create separation throughout the frame. Leading 20-15, BU scored the final five points, highlighted by a Juliana Van Ommering kill and a Lexi Lambert service ace, to take the opener 25-15.

The Eagles took complete control in the second set with their serving. Biola built an 8-2 advantage before Caprice Cooper delivered three-consecutive service aces during a five-point run that extended the lead to 15-4. Camille Solovjev and Natalie Ojeisekhoba also added aces as BU rolled to a 25-10 victory. Biola totaled eight service aces in the frame.

Biola kept its foot on the gas in the third, racing out to a 7-2 lead and stretching the advantage to 13-4. Madison Moore provided an offensive spark with five kills in her lone set of action, while Tully continued her efficient afternoon. Jessup never got closer than seven points the rest of the way, and Savannah Simpson finished the match with a service ace to secure the 25-13 win and the sweep.

Tully led the Eagles with 11 kills and did not commit an attack error on 18 swings, finishing with a .611 hitting percentage. Haylee LaFontaine added seven kills, while Van Ommering recorded five kills on a .400 clip. Moore also finished with five kills on seven attempts for a .571 hitting percentage.

Lambert led Biola with 15 assists and added nine digs, while Hannah Hanson contributed 13 assists. Cooper matched Lambert with nine digs and led the Eagles with four service aces. Simpson added four kills without an error, two aces and three total blocks.

Biola returns home next Saturday, Sept. 19, taking on Hawaii Hilo at 3 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium.
