Eagles Show Fight Against No. 16 CBU

Biola scores six after halftime, led by hat tricks from Slack and Hernandez.

RIVERSIDE, Calif.--- Biola Men's Water Polo battled nationally-ranked No. 16 CBU, falling 17-9 at the Lancers Aquatics Center.

The Lancers established an early advantage with six goals in the opening quarter. Kevin Slack and Micah Hernandez each found the back of the cage for Biola, but CBU carried a 6-2 lead into the second.

CBU continued to create separation in the second quarter, adding six more goals. Noah Ryznar provided the Eagles' lone score of the frame as Biola entered halftime trailing 12-3.

Biola found more success offensively after halftime, scoring six goals over the final two quarters.

Hernandez scored twice in the third quarter and Slack added another as Biola put three on the board. CBU answered with four goals of its own, sending the Eagles into the fourth trailing 16-6.

Biola finished the match with its strongest quarter of the evening, outscoring the Lancers 3-1 in the final eight minutes. Caden Digby, Slack and Isaac Demski each found the back of the cage as the Eagles continued to battle through the final whistle.

Slack and Hernandez each recorded a hat trick to lead Biola's offense. Ryznar, Digby and Demski added one goal apiece to round out the Eagles' scoring.

After being outscored 12-3 in the opening half, Biola responded by outscoring CBU 6-5 in the second half, including a 3-1 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles moved to 3-5 on the season and return to action Friday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. against Brown.
