LA MIRADA --- Two Eagles were named to The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association West Region First and Second Teams on Friday morning.

Jonny Tewinkle earned First Team All-Region honors after a breakout senior season. Tewinkle hit .411 over 192 at bats. He drove in 47 runs while scoring 50 times himself. He led the team in hits with 79, including 12 doubles, one triple and 12 home runs. Tewinkle accrued an OPS of 1.170, a SLG% of .672 and an OBP of .498. Defensively, Tewinkle had a fielding percentage of .988.

"I'm so proud of Jonny and the season he put together," stated Head Coach Jesse Rodgers. "He worked really hard and earned all of the success. More impressively to me was how much fun he had with his teammates and playing the game."

James Whitman earned Second Team All-Region honors following a record-breaking senior year. Whitman led the Eagles in nine offensive categories including batting average, runs scored, RBIs, home runs, walks, HBP, OPS, SLG% and OBP. In 157 at bats, Whitman averaged .439 with an OPS of 1.531. He collected 58 RBIs while scoring 64 times. He had 69 hits including 14 doubles, three triples and 19 home runs. When positioned at first base, Whitman accrued a .957 fielding percentage.

"It is fitting for James to earn the all region honor to cap one of the best careers in our history at Biola," continued Rodgers. "He was relentless in his work and I am fortunate to have watched James develop and perform over his four years here."
