Trio of Eagles Honored by WWPA

Pidd headlines First Team selection while Moreno and Luna collect multiple all-conference nods

LA MIRADA --- The Biola women's water polo team had three Eagles honored by the Western Water Polo Association on Wednesday afternoon. 

Gwendolyn Pidd was named to the All-WWPA First Team after a stellar sophomore season. Pidd led the Eagles in goals (61) and points (73). She converted over 50% of her shots, finishing the season with a .550 shooting percentage. Pidd collected 26 steals and 17 drawn exclusions. She was named to the All-WWPA Freshman Team last year.

Destiny Moreno was named to two All-WWPA teams, Second Team and Defensive Team. Moreno tallied the third most points on the team with 52. She scored 35 goals and collected 17 assists. Moreno led the team in drawn exclusions with 31 and contributed 16 steals. She was named to the All-WWPA Freshman Team last year.

Fernanda Luna, the freshman out of Mexico, was named to two All-WWPA teams as well. She earned All-Freshman Team and Honorable Mention honors. Luna, the primary goalkeeper for the Eagles, recorded a single-season record 203 saves, including a 21 save performance against UC Merced. She collected 28 steals, scored one goal and had two assists. 

The Eagles will play in the WWPA Conference Tournament against #3 McKendree on April 10 at 3 p.m.
